Then, just about 2 weeks ago he started limping a bit and then he couldn’t put any weight on his right rear leg. These were the exact same signs he showed in the previous situation and off to the vet we went. We waited a few days but the problem didn’t get better only worse. In order to determine the extent of the injury, he had to be sedated and xrays taken and the leg manipulated. The vet said if it was an ACL problem they would just take him right into surgery while he was still asleep. Of course this is what happened. Except this was a total tear, the ACL was just floating around the knee.

So he’s home and he has reacted a little more differently with this surgery. Maybe because it was a more complex tear, but he’s not moving around as much. We have to perform some physio several times each day just to try and increase his range of motion. It’s only been a few days so we’ll keep working on him. At least the weather is starting to get nicer and we can be outside.

I was never comfortable backing up. That is one of the reasons I still had my pictures on the computer. I never seemed to be able to retrieve anything. After a few tries, I finally was able to get a good portion of the pics back but now in iPhoto, all I see is a white frame where the pictures should be. If I scroll through the pics they very briefly show, then disappear. Any advice I have followed has not worked in restoring the pictures. As you may be able to tell, I’m somewhat computer challenged, but I’m still frustrated!

Then my new GoPro had issues. If you have one of the new Hero3 Black’s, you’ll be aware that there have been many issues with them. I’ve posted a couple of videos with it here but never really had a chance to play with some of its capabilities until recently. My issues started with a synch problem between the camera and the remote. I had to download the firmware several times to even get it to work every once in a while. I started a dialogue with GoPro and they were really good. But the synch problem still existed. Then, for some reason, in one of the video settings I took, the video ended up being a mirror of itself. Everything was reversed. So they have agreed to replace the camera. Hopefully this will work but I’m not sure how long it will take to get a replacement.

I’ve been doing quite well, in fact today was my longest run in over a year, 7.24km which took me 46:48. The pace was good, slower but consistent. So far in two months this year I’ve covered 85% of the distance and total time in all of 2012. I also just picked up a new pair of Asics Kayano 19′s and have been out in them a couple of times.

Part of my progress has to be attributed to the strength training I’m doing. I’m into the second month of my training with a personal trainer and it seems to be paying off. Most of the exercises are geared towards my legs and lower muscles as well as my core. I only work out twice a week but I’ve been able to keep the training at a high level of intensity. My legs feel good and stronger, but I do feel tired sometimes afterwards.

This will be the first week where I hope I can train Tuesday and Thursday and run Wednesday and Friday. Tomorrow, Monday will be a rest day. During the week I run at indoors at work on our track. I’d like to be outside but the weather has been good lately so there is a lot of melting and freezing happening. Spikes are mandatory right now when running outside.

So 2013 has proven to be good so far and I’m encouraged about my progress. Stay tuned!!

Used the GoPro Black a fair amount in the water and was very pleased with the results and the quality. Battery life was great, never had to recharge over the week and my 16g card held everything. Will test it again this weekend with an overnight camping trip.
